Kanban board

Last updated: October 2026

The Kanban board shows your ideas as cards in columns, sorted by status. The mind map is where you think; the board is where you see what's next.

There are two ways to open it:

  • Per venture: in the sidebar, every venture has a Board next to its Mind map. You can also switch with the Mind map | Board tabs at the top. This board shows only that venture's cards.
  • All ventures: Kanban (all) in the sidebar shows every card from every venture on one board, with a filter at the top.

Using the board

  • Drag a card to another column to change its status.
  • Click a card to open it on its mind map, with its side panel open.
  • On Kanban (all), filter by venture with the switch at the top, or pick All. Your choice stays in the page address, so you can bookmark a filtered board.
  • The counters at the top show how many ideas are in progress, how many are shipped, and how many open flags there are.

Each card shows its venture, its build number (once it has one), any open flags, and when it was last changed.

Mind map and Kanban always agree

The Kanban and the mind map show the same cards. Move a card to Ready on the Kanban and its mind map updates instantly, and the other way around. This also works across browser tabs and devices, without reloading.

Build numbers

"This needs something first"

Move a card to Ready (on the board, or with the State buttons on the mind map) while a feature it depends on is still an Idea or Scoped, and Flowmaps asks first. It lists what's missing, in the order to build it, including what those need. Choose:

  • Move all to Ready: they go to Ready in that order, so they also get earlier build numbers and Claude Code builds them first.
  • Just this one: move only this card. Handy when you know the other part is done another way.
  • Cancel: nothing moves.

Lines that say one card blocks another count too. Cards that are Ready, In Progress or Shipped already are fine.

The first time a card reaches Ready (or later), it gets a build number like v0.1.0, then v0.2.0, and so on, per venture. It records the order in which you decided to build things, and it never changes afterwards, even if you move the card back.

Example

You open the Kanban with All selected. Under Ready you see Book a walk (v0.1.0) from Dog Walk App and Monthly report (v0.1.0) from another venture. You drag Book a walk to In Progress, and its card on the Dog Walk App mind map changes color right away.
