Use Flowmaps inside ChatGPT

Last updated: October 2026

Planning your app in ChatGPT? Connect Flowmaps and ChatGPT can see your boards, put new ideas on your mind map and explain the build plan for a feature, right in the chat.

ChatGPT is for planning only. It can't reach the files on your computer, so it can't build your app or move cards to In Progress and Shipped. To build, use Claude Code or Codex with the flowmaps command. Ask ChatGPT to build something and it tells you the same.

What you can ask

  • "What can I build from Flowmaps?" ChatGPT shows your ventures and the features that are Ready or being built.
  • "Add a referral program as an idea to my Pawstep mind map." A new card appears on your mind map. If it touches something risky, like payments or personal data, it gets a flag.
  • "Explain the build plan for the sign-up feature." ChatGPT reads its build instructions and explains them in plain words.

Connect ChatGPT (once)

Flowmaps is waiting for approval in ChatGPT's app directory. Once it's listed, you'll find it there as Flowmaps and connect it with one click. Until then you can add it yourself:

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins in the sidebar (or Settings → Plugins).
  2. Click Add (top right) and choose Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Flowmaps. Under Connection, keep Server URL selected and paste https://flowmaps.app/api/mcp. Choose OAuth under Authentication, tick that you understand the warning, and click Create as plugin.
  4. Flowmaps opens in your browser: check that it's your account and click Allow ChatGPT.
  5. Start a new chat, turn on Flowmaps with the + next to the message box (or type @Flowmaps), and ask: "What can I build from Flowmaps?"

ChatGPT may ask before it adds an idea, because that changes your board. Click Allow.

What ChatGPT can and can't do

When you click Allow, ChatGPT can work with the ventures in every workspace where you're an Owner or Editor: see your ventures and what's Ready, read build instructions and skills, and add ideas. It can't see your API key, delete anything or change your team.

What you ask ChatGPT, and the Flowmaps information it reads to answer, is handled by OpenAI under their own terms and privacy policy. See our privacy policy.

Disconnect

ChatGPT appears in Settings → Terminal under connected computers, with the name ChatGPT gave itself (like ChatGPT (MCP)). Click Disconnect to remove its access right away. You can also remove Flowmaps in ChatGPT's own settings. To connect again, click Connect in ChatGPT.

Good to know

  • ChatGPT only sees ventures in your workspaces, through the same secure connection as the Claude connection and the flowmaps command.
  • Flags are automatic warnings, not legal advice.
